Sahn Dahn – “The Turn Around”
Sahn Dahn is a Rapper/Song Writer out of Riverhead, NY. Representing Boo Clique, San Dahn is here with his incredible debut EP, “The Turn Around”. This EP is exactly what you want if you’re looking for quality Hip Hop. There’s no mumble rapping or autotune, just the genuine vocalism that hits as smooth as it does hard. With tracks featuring Long Island natives Chelsea Takami and Spilltheblood., Sahn Dahn is here to take the LI scene by storm.
When speaking to Sahn Dahn, he stated, “when I wrote the EP I wanted to start off as like a happier vibe kind of thing and then transition into more of a trap type fo sound to show my diversity. I feel like every single song is different and showcases my skill in different ways.” This is a spot on representation. Sahn Dahn’s word play and ability to switch up his flow and match and beat and tempo is dope. “The Turn Around” starts off with “Bars on the Weekend”, a smooth sounding, mellow track that has you vibing along the whole time. The song was produced by Public, and the beat is nothing short of fire. Sahn Dahn shows off his vocal prowess, coming with a flow similar to that of Big Sean. He demonstrates his ability to flow effortlessly on a track. Match the talent with the infectious beat and Sahn Dahn has classic track!
“The Turn Around” continues with “Lets Chill”, featuring Chelsea Takami. This is a fun song that is sure to get a part started. Sahn Dahn told us that “Lets Chill was my favorite song to work on because it was my first time like singing.” For his first time really singing on a track, I think he knocked it out of the park. Unlike half the shit you hear on the radio, this is a song you can actually rock to at a party and get the mood right. My stand out part was Chelsea Takami killing the vocals at end. On a EP that contains heavier Hip Hop, I think Sahn Dahn’s choice to mix it up with Chelsea Takami was a smart move. It adds such value to a Hip Hop project.
Sahn Dahn switches up the mood with the next track, “Insurrection” featuring Spilltheblood. This is the first introduction into the trap style that Sahn Dahn referenced earlier. I love that despite the harder beat, Sahn Dahn comes in with lighter vocals that still fit so perfectly. Spilltheblood.’s verse makes you want to start going wild. These guys have proven time and again that they can flow on a track, and this is no exception. Big ups to the Boo Clique!
Sahn Dahn follows up with “What’s Good”, my favorite track on the EP. The beat on this is irresistible. The instant the song begins, you can’t help from nodding your head and dancing along. The best line of “Sheesh, I said the ride starts now, it’s either your with me or your gonna down. Word around town, Sahn Dahn’s not a clown, I’m a savage n**** and I will bust down.” Sahn Dahn’s sending those warning shots to the rest of the rap community! The EP ends off with “Outta Sight”, a shot to all the bullshit haters and drama starters that have ever put Sahn down. He’s here to stay.
Sahn Dahn dropped heat with this debut EP. “The Turn Around” is five tracks of irresistible vocals, clever word play and dope beats. Make sure you follow Sahn Dahn’s social media and listen to tracks from the new EP on the blog’s Spotify playlist: After Hours Review!
