  • Bunktown Falls – “Catch Me”

Last week, I had the opportunity to preview Bunktown Falls’ newest release “Catch Me” before the masses get to hear it on Saturday, April 20th. I listened to this single the way that I feel it was meant to be listened, after a long day at work and a little buzzed with good friends. Previewing this song was the perfect way to end my day, and I cannot wait for everyone to hear it!

Catch Me” is the first of multiple singles to be released by Bunktown Falls this year, but originally was not meant to be the first to be released in their string of singles. “When we were picking which song we were going to release first, before it even had a name we always referred to [“Catch Me”] as ‘the fun one’.” Spencer, bassist, mentioned, “I guess that’s the whole point of this song, we wanted to make a really fun tune and we ended up making a really fun tune.” And it really is! “Catch Me”’s jovial guitar riffs that echo throughout the entire single are infectious; I could not stop smiling throughout the entire preview because of how happy and fun it sounds.

The single also features harmony vocals from Carl Nowicki, a friend of theirs who I met during their January show at The Irish Pub. Though a small part, I really enjoyed how Carl’s vocals feel like a new yet familiar flavor to the Bunktown palette, like the feeling of being back in your hometown after a long time away or meeting up with a childhood friend.

As with all of Bunktown Falls’ music, “Catch Me” fills me with a sense of longing for warmer weather and being outside with friends. This single gives me a sense of excitement and anticipation that I’m sure other Bunktown Falls fans will agree with. It’s like seeing a new title sequence at the beginning of your favorite show: a sense of familiarity after waiting for so long, but there’s an excited inquiry on what’s to come. What does Bunktown Falls have in store for the rest of the summer and year? What more surprises will they be pulling out of their hats?

Check it out on all streaming platforms this Saturday, April 20th(of course, the release date is completely accidental)!
