One of the coolest things about running this blog and Instagram page is that small bands & artists have begun to follow these pages.  I typically find new music by searching online through venue websites, other band’s websites and facebooks, bandcamp, etc.  Despite having numerous resources to find new music, there will always be artists that I may never get to come across.  One such artist is up-and-coming hip-hop artist Samy Wats.

Samy Wats was born in Alexandria, Egypt. He grew up listening to a wide range of music; from jazz and blues to Egyptian music.  It was when he moved to California that he was introduced to the addicting sound and style of hip-hop.  “As a young kid, his affinity for hip-hop was nurtured via the sounds of 90s hip-hop figures like The Notorious B.I.G., 2pac, and Bone Thugs-N-Harmony as well as Snoop Dogg and Too Short.  His influences are revealed through his commanding flows and smooth melodic vocals.”

When I noticed that Samy Wats liked my Instagram post on the Dirty Heads, I checked him out and saw that he was promoting a new single, Fading, produced by Rome Ramirez and LDontheCut.  Fading steps away from his first two single releases, Think Twice and Multiply, which embodies the traditional hip-hop sound and style.  Fading resonates a more mellow & positive vibe.  This demonstrates Samy’s versatility as a hip-hop artist, as he does not stick to one specific style when recording songs.  Samy’s newest release is sure to capture the attention of hip-hop/r&b fans.

Samy Wats is an up-and-coming hip-hop artist that is ready to make a name for himself.  His consistent flow and ability to release quality songs with completely different vibes proves that he is not just a one-hit-wonder.  Make sure to check back mid-late January for the release of his new single!
