Staleworth is a five piece, Post-Hardcore/Punk band out of Long Island, NY. The band was started three years ago by the two guitarists and has gone through many transitions since the beginning. After starting up, the bands bassist and drummer both parted ways with Staleworth. While searching for band members to fill the void, the remaining members of Staleworth checked out another Long Island band that they were/are friends with; Ü Blue. From there, the band switched over some members and now each band has a solidified lineup! I got to speak with members of Staleworth who had this to say: “we are fucking strong and ready to take on the world!”
In 2016, Staleworth released “Covalence“. This EP turned me into a fan of the band! The guys put their all into this five track EP and created an amazing project. “Covalence” starts off with Empty Veins. I love this song because of the huge Thursday vibe I get from it. The emotional lyrics mixed with the singing/screaming vocals along with the fast paced drumming and hard guitar chords are going to have crowds going crazy! “So sick so apathetic, footsteps forewarning your return, Ain’t nowhere left to hide. Blind faced, and blind admission. This plea of guilt to bide your time.”
I love tracks three and four on “Covalence”; Moonchild and Hang Loose. These are the most unique songs. Moonchild starts off with the slow, light strum of the guitar, segues into a full band jam and ends with the same light strum of the guitar. The song screams Brand New and it is awesome! It’s always exciting to see a band that can throw their own flare into a song that is so reminiscent of another band’s. Hang Loose follows Moonchild and it is a banger; by far my favorite song on the EP. Staleworth absolutely throws down on this song. The song begins with an infectious drumming that gets your body moving instantly. It is met with a upbeat guitar chord and goes into a full band explosion! “Cut from the back of my eyes, there’s no sleeping tonight. there’s no sleeping tonight, yeah!” All I can say is, I cannot wait to see them perform this at Great South Bay Music Festival! I’ll be the one going nuts in the crowd.
“Covalence“ends with Tiger Troubles, a song that is definitely a fan favorite. The band was able to show off all their talents on this one. Each instrument is perfectly highlighted and the vocals are perfectly sung. Combine the awesome vocals with killer guitar chords and some serious drumming and you have a song that everyone will fall in love with! Staleworth recently released their new single, That’s Not My Wallet. This song is awesome! It starts off with soft instrumentals and vocals; “It started with one false move to bring us together, we fold…, If tomorrow’s nature is today’s way home, how will we ever know?” The song leads into heavier instrumentals and harder vocals that are killer! Make sure to check out the video below!
Staleworth has been growing since the beginning and has no intentions of stopping! The band has new songs on the way and has some big shows coming up! Make sure to check them out when the play Great South Bay Music Festival in Patchogue, NY on July 12th!
