The Recip3 is a brand new Hip Hop / Reggae band out of Bayshore, NY. They formed about a year ago and have been actively performing shows and creating dope music ever since. Since the start, The Recip3 has opened as direct support for Badfish (Sublime tribute band) and played SXSW in Austin, Texas this past March! The Long Island Hip Hop / Reggae scene is growing bigger and bigger, with awesome acts like Nonstop to Cairo, Ooogee Wawa, and now The Recip3!
The Recipe3 is made up of FAME and Danny Destro on vocals, James “Masta Digital” Denatale on drums, Zac “The Fucking Docta” P on guitar and Saga Rah AKA Ghost on bass. The band’s “about” page on their Facebook states “think Sublime meets The Roots”. This is the perfect example of exactly what The Recip3 represents. They released the single However I Want this past March and it is a banger! The intro to the song reminds me so much of a Slightly Stoopid or 311 intro. The trippy vibes of the guitar and slow build up of the drums will hook every fan! However I Want quickly goes into 311/Sublime style vocals. What I love about this band is the amazing instrumentals they can produce. This song incorporates sick guitar solos, infectious drumming, pristine vocals and everything a reggae fan needs to fall in love with a band!
The Recip3 are playing the ROC Steady Reggae Cruise by Raised Fist Propaganda on August 9th, along with Roots of Creation and Suburban Sensi. The cruise is aboard THE HARBOR LIGHTS Yacht and will depart from Skyport Marina – East 23rd Street & FDR Drive (EAST side) in NYC.
