If you’ve been following The After Hours Review from the beginning, you’ll know I’m a huge fan and supporter of Long Island’s own Ska/Hip Hop band, Nonstop to Cairo. The very first feature on the blog was of their show at The Paramount in Huntington! Their unique sound and style, matched with their insane energy when they perform makes them a force to be reckoned with. Nonstop to Cairo is releasing their new single, “Balcony” soon, and I’m lucky enough to share some of it all with you before the release!
“Balcony” is an absolute banger! Nonstop to Cairo strayed away from their sound and style and made this song much more Ska/Jam based. It reminds me of “Rooted”, an awesome song off their self-titled debut EP. The intro on “Balcony” will hook you immediately. It starts off with a heavy, jam based guitar chords that leads into the full horn section. You won’t be able to resist the urge to dance around and go wild. I can already see the crowds going nuts to this one at every show they play! Something that must be noted are the vocals of August. I love that he moved away from the typical rapping verses that can be heard on previous releases and came more with a singing style. The representation of diversity NSTC has within their vocals and instrumentals on this song is amazing. Nick’s vocals also compliment the instrumentals so well. This is a song that everyone will quickly learn every single word to and sing along at the top of their lungs!
Nonstop to Cairo is quickly becoming one of the most well known bands on Long Island, and they undoubtably deserve it. “Balcony” is a single that is going to gain so much attention, I can’t wait to see the results! Keep an eye out for the release of the single, and check out some other jams by Nonstop to Cairo on the blog’s Spotify playlist: After Hours Review!
