We are currently on the road to Munoz Stock! Munoz Stock is an annual music festival that takes place on August 3rd in Huntington, NY. The festival is run by Long Island’s own Progressive Punk/Avant-Garde/Experimental band, The Muckrakers, along with Skuby Jordan Munoz. This amazing group of guys started this festival at the young age of 16-17 years old and have carried on the tradition for almost a decade now! If you’ve been trying to find an event to attend to support the Long Island music scene, look no further! Munoz Stock is an inclusive event that always includes some amazing music spreading across all genres!
The Facebook page for the festival has a bio that perfectly describes the event; “we are a DIY Music / Art / Video Games Festival as well as a Booking group that focuses on getting touring bands exposure on Long Island and making seasonal stand out events to bring together the scene”. I attended the event last summer and it is exactly what I experienced. Every attendant of the festival was there to have a good time, party their assess off and support some amazing Long Island music! The second you enter the event, you immediately feel that DIY vibe. To some people reading this, that may turn you off, but I promise your attendance is worth it. These guys grind for every event they host and do everything in their power to make it as memorable as possible. Something I love about Munoz Stock that you don’t always see at all LI events is the inclusivity. Of course, the event is meant to highlight the music, but it is so much more than just that. No one feels like an outcast at this event. You can walk up to anyone and spark a conversation and end up hitting it off like you’ve known each other for years. The guys who are behind the scenes ensure that this event is a COMMUNITY event. This is not a Muckrakers event in their eyes, this is LONG ISLAND event. This is exactly what the island needs, and I am in full support!
Munoz Stock goes well beyond a once a year music festival. These guys are working all year to put together amazing events and promote bands. Whether those bands are performing at the festival or not, these guys are supporting them. As I said earlier, Munoz Stock a community. The selflessness and the genuine love for music that these guys show is unmatchable in today’s music climate. They put together a show on June 22nd at Shaker’s Pub called “Road to Munoz Stock”. This event features The Muckrakers, Ü Blue , Vigil Antics, Aimless Again, Urbanoid and Holy Vulture. These are six amazing bands that deserve all the recognition they can get. If you want a taste of the festival, you have to be at this show!
Munoz Stock is an amazing experience every summer and I anticipate nothing less for this one!
