Sleepless Denver is an Alternative Rock band out of Virginia. The band features Joey Estrada (vocals/guitar), Jesse Wilson (bass) and Hunter “Stretch” Milam (drums). Frontman Joey Estrada began this as a solo project. Hearing the potential in the sound he was creating, Joey recruited Jesse and Stretch. The three immediately connected and formed a “brotherhood-like bond”. With their debut single, “Stereo”, released today, Sleepless Denver is ready to show the world what they got!
Sleepless Denver sent me the single a few weeks ago to hear my opinion on it. The second I started listening to it, I knew I was going to love it. The song begins with fast paced guitar chords and drumming that fit the Pop Rock/Pop Punk vibe so well. I was instantly nodding my head and tapping my foot along to the contagious instrumentals. The part of the instrumentals that stood out to me the most was the bridge that began a little more than half way through the song. This is going to have fans going wild. It is very reminiscent of the type of bridge you would hear on a Blink 182 song. There’s no doubt that the fans will fall in love with it instantly!
I got the chance to speak to Sleepless Denver quick and hear their take on “Stereo”. “The single hits home as it speaks on the reality of mental health in our current society and how it’s cry for help tends to go unheard, hence the coined term ‘Hear the sound of my heart on your stereo’ ”. Their message is clearly evident through the lyrics. “Hear the sound, the sound of my beating heart, the sound of my heart on your stereo. Please come down, will you have a look inside? The sound of my heart, on your stereo. Come and drink from the fountain, set your eyes to anomaly, and fall back into place. I was fighting your battle, when the world fell in front of you, well come and have your way. For now you gotta make believe, that this is the last time”. The true, raw emotion felt through this chorus and verse is something that will have people begging for more. “I was fighting your battle, when the world fell in front of you” is a line that stood out to me above all others. So many times, we think about mental health issues only impacting the person dealing with it. I love that Sleepless Denver used that line to emphasize that mental health issues effect the people surrounding that person as well!
Sleepless Denver is a brand new band that is ready to take the music scene by storm. With a debut single like this, I can’t wait to see what the band has in store for us in the near future! Make sure you follow the band on all their social media, and check out “Stereo” on the blog’s Spotify playlist: After Hours Review!
