  • An Interview with FRND CRCL

FRND CRCL is a Pop Punk band out of Vineland, New Jersey.  The band consists of Aaron Smith (Drums), Dom Giacalone (Lead Guitar), and dual vocalists Zac Johnson (Guitar) and Adam Skirvin (Bass).  Forming in 2018, these guys have made a name for themselves in their local music scene and have branched out around the tai-state area.  Wherever they play, they have a buzz that follows them and their fan base continues to grow!  With the release of their new single, “Famous”, FRND CRCL is on a path take over the Pop Punk scene!

Famous” is a bop!  It hits all the classic Pop Punk sounds that are going to have people falling in love with FRND CRCL.  The boys weren’t afraid to show off their talents on this one.  From the pristine vocals to the shredding guitar riffs and head banging drumming, this four piece band knows how to kick ass!  I can’t wait to catch these guys live.  I’ll be singing along at the top of my lungs from the second those first vocals come in.  We all wanna be famous somehow, we got everything to figure out, singing nah nah nah nah nah nah nah nah nah, famous right now”.

It is without a doubt in my mind that FRND CRCL is going to continue on the path to success.  With each release, the band’s presence grows more and more.  Keep scrolling down to check out our interview with FRND CRCL, and check out “Famous” on the blog’s Spotify playlist: After Hours Review!

Dan: What genre of music do you consider your work to be?

FRND CRCL: I would say our genre is Pop Punk, but we all include elements from various genres across the board that at one point or another, have inspired each of us individually as musicians. Our main influences within the genre would have to include, Blink 182, Green Day, Man Overboard and so forth.

Dan:  When did you first take an interest in the music scene?  What inspired you to make music?

FRND CRCL: This is an interesting question for sure. We’ve all been musicians for our whole lives and I mean every one of us has had a different path with music being the underlying similarity. It seems that we had all met at the right time when we kinda sat back and said, Hey, I want to seriously do something with music and I think we all shared that similar mentality of doing what we love. with that being said, Once we had all linked up as a full band in 2018, we’ve been going non-stop ever since.

Dan:  Do you have a record label?  Are you a member of any music organization?

FRND CRCL:  So, we’re definitely an independent band as far as labels go, however we’re a part of Word is Bond Inc. MGMT!

Dan:  How has your music evolved since you first began making music?

FRND CRCL: The music has become so much more dynamic – Our upcoming album showcases not only that, but a maturity in our sound as well. The songs sound bigger than ever as they should. We’ve spend countless hours in the studio just perfecting every part of the songs because we wanted to get it right. It was a perk of self-producing everything for sure.

Dan:  What has been your biggest challenge as a band/artist so far?

FRND CRCL: There’s been a few big obstacles to overcome for sure. There’s creative obstacles as well as business related ones as well and they both require very different approaches. I think that’s why being in a band can be so difficult sometimes – we all have to compromise what we want for the good of the band.

Dan:  What can you tell us about the new single?

FRND CRCL: So the new single “Famous” is a fun song! Its high energy and punk rock take on the modern age of people acting like something they’re not for clout on social media or just desire to become some sort of viral sensation. “We all wannabe famous somehow, we’ve got everything to figure out, singing’ (insert nah nah nah’s) famous right now, we all wanna be” is really meant SO ironically if you listen carefully to the lyrics.

Dan:  Do you have any main themes or topics you like to hit in your music?

FRND CRCL: Sure, I mean sometimes, like for instance, there’s a few songs on the album that the lyrical inspiration comes from my own personal experiences/hardships that I wanted to include to possibly help other people going through similar situations. I think that’s something powerful that music can do and hey, if I can help someone through our music, then that in itself is so rewarding.

Dan:  Any upcoming shows or release dates, things happening, etc?

FRND CRCL: We’re on the verge of announcing another single soon! Stay tuned for an album release date and since were really flirting, maybe some tour dates as well 😉 Thanks for having us on The After Hours
