  • Fellow Feeling – “Something Better”

Looking for some moody tunes to add to your daily music rotation? Well look no further than Fellow Feeling’sSomething Better”, released on all music platforms this April. Fellow Feeling is a four-piece music collective from Long Island, with a sound that fans of alternative-rock and indie music will love. This track is a knock-out single, featuring finger-tapping beats and emotional lyrics.““Something Better” is really about not accepting things as they are and that we have a choice in how we move forward from our past experiences.”Vocalist and guitar player Ryan wrote to me, “The idea for it came when I was moving the last of my things out of my childhood home. It was a moment filled with nostalgia, where I was considering all the amazing and terrible times I had experienced there, when I found a photo album my deceased mother had made for me. Looking at those photos I thought of all that happened around the moments that were captured. I couldn’t help but think that I had created idealized memories…“Something Better” is about a profound moment of sadness, joy and catharsis. A time when I looked back at a life marked by family tragedy, drug abuse and redemption. I had accepted that often we look back and idealize times in our life as if the best has passed but that in and of itself is a lie. I realized we have the opportunity to create a life we want where we can take the lessons and values from our best and worst experiences.” There’s a noticeable difference between “Something Better” and Fellow Feeling’s previous releases, which Ryan also mentioned to me. “From my perspective as a lyricist [‘Something Better’ is] the first song where I allowed myself to be vulnerable in a way I hadn’t in our older EPs and singles. I tended to hide myself in my observations rather than put myself in the center of what I was writing about.” The exposed nature of this track really shines in the tender vocals of the chorus and immediately reminded me of the musical stylings and emotion of Jason Wade and Chester Bennington.

And that’s not all! If you loved this release, be sure to follow Fellow Feeling on all social media platforms so you don’t miss when they drop their newest single, “Dig”!
