If you’re looking for a pair of songs that take you for a trip, here you are. Ü Blue is at it again with more melodic post hardcore goodness!
The third and fourth in a series of singles recorded at Long Island’s Vudu Studios, both “Tapes ‘n CDs” and “Shreddy” allow Ü Blue to display their guitar prowess in record time while still managing to leave themselves somewhere to go. These tracks also manage more of the band’s head-banger friendly pockets… within seconds. With only “everywhere” to take the listener, the band makes a habit of guiding you through several movements while still building on the opening themes.
Sean Ragoobir continues to hold down the frontman role with confidence and a sense of unrivaled boldness. As mentioned, guitarists Nick and Conor are on full display here (which is usually for the best). It’s no doubt these guys have thought every note out before it was shred. The melody section is allowed to be so forward thinking because of how tight the rhythm section is.
Drummer/vocalist James Ferrara is (as always), perfectly in sync with the rest of his band’s melodic swagger while Ryan Patterson’s bass roars through these tracks like the glue that it is. James and Ryan never overplay while never feeling missing from the track. It’s a chemistry that has been forged over years and it’s something that needs to be highlighted.
Also, did you notice Kurt Travis (famous for Dance Gavin Dance, Royal Coda, Eternity Forever, etc.) popping his head in there?? That’s just flat out cool. This band is built for standing out in the swan core circuit and I hope other fans of the genre will agree.
Overall I recommend these tracks HIGHLY to fans of the post hardcore or prog rock genre. Go check out their previous singles, “Johnny Walker Never Runs”, and “Gold Codes”. Both songs are available for streaming.
