Oklahoma-based band Outline In Color knocked it out of the park with another incredible single, “Poison Prescribed As Medicine”, released Mid-November among their other incredible releases this year. The track will be the first of many in their highly-anticipated EP, “Impostor Syndrome Pt. 2”, set to release April 23rd of next year.
“Poison Prescribed As Medicine” is a post-hardcore commentary on the “seemingly ever-growing opioid crisis that is taking too many people too early”. My official recommendation is to listen to this song with your Spotify Canvasses on or to watch the incredible music video for it. Not only does this band create an unforgettable track, with ground-slamming drum lines and soul-wrenching vocal melodies, the visuals that are coupled with it are especially striking and truly encompass the song’s intent and emotion.
“Poison Prescribed As Medicine” also speaks to the band’s success in musical versatility and strive to keep creating and breaking molds. Counting original singles alone, Outline In Color, has delivered seven singles this year which include diverse flavors like nu-metal heard in “BottleRat”, melodic hardcore in “Alibi”, and grungey head-banging ballad-core in “Punishment”. That being said, “Poison Prescribed As Medicine”, while continuing to maintain the Outline In Color sound, remains to be another example of this band’s mastery in knock-out releases.
