Long Island’s own Alternative Metal band, A Farewell Fire, is back and ready to take on the music world! After years of leaving us craving more music from them, A Farewell Fire made their triumphant return in 2019. Since then, they have been perfecting their style and sound. The band dropped an acoustic project in 2020 and now they are back with a POWERFUL new single, “Lie” !
A Farewell Fire couldn’t have went with a better choice for the release of their first new song in over a decade! “Lie” is an extremely impactful song that is sure to leave fans dying for more. I was hooked the second I first listened! The guitar intro that transitions into the full band starts the track off with a bang that never lets up. The singing vocals smoothly leads into irresistible heavy screaming that had me itching to start a pit right in the middle of my living room! What truly caught my attention is the Alt/Metal style that A Farewell Fire came with on this track. They mastered the perfect blend of the traditional metal sounds that we all know and love with a gritty, hardcore nature. You can hear examples of this throughout the songs entirety, just try not to break everything in your house as you throw down to that breakdown at the end! THIS IS THE FRESH MUSIC LONG ISLAND NEEDS RIGHT NOW! LET’S GO BOYS!
I spoke with Eddie (guitar/vocals) who shared with me that “Lie is seen as a wake up call to the impression we are setting to our future generations“. This was very evident to me upon my first listen of the song. The vocals that stood out to me immediately are from the first chorus that leads into the second verse. “So you better stop believing, you better listen here. Looks can be deceiving and we begin to shut ourselves out from the world. Generation of the lost, and the left behind, don’t get caught up in the lie! Hypocrites, you’re all full of shit, I can see it coming out of your eyes. Crocodile tears, spreading the fear, looking for the next one to victimize.” THIS is the message the world needs to hear right now! While there is a ton of amazing progress happening in society at the moment, there are also plenty of people who look to destroy that progress. A Farewell Fire leaves a blunt message to the people that if we aren’t careful, we’re going to foster a generation of people that live in fear of and hate for one another.
The past couple of years have been tough on all of us, and one thing we can all agree on is the need for new music.
