Coopertheband is a Indie Folk Rock band coming out of Jackson, Tennessee. They consider themselves a “bramily (band/friends/family).” Filled with “six massive music nerds” (as they refer to themselves), Coopertheband brings a fresh and down-to-earth sound to the music scene. Fortunately for the band, I am not the only one who has taken notice of their contagious sound. “Centered in Jackson, TN, the band has found success nationally, featured on networks like HBO, ESPN, and TruTV as well as the hit show “Without a Trace.”
Coopertheband recently released the music video for Rebels, the first single off of Kingdoms. The production of the video is amazing. With the use of neon lighting around objects that correspond perfectly to the beat of the song, and the exuberant amount of colors flying across the screen, the video is extremely visually appealing. What I love the most about this music video is that it is a clear testament to why the band has brandished themselves a “bramily.”
Throughout the video, each member of the band is given equal spotlight, something that is not always seen. The camera does not focus on one particular member, rather acts like a “fly on the wall,” showcasing the entire scene. The video begins with a rowdy game of Risk between the band members. Throughout the game, the “bramily” is arguing with each other, just like any friends/family do. This theme continues throughout the video, but with a lighthearted feel to it. From playing an aggressive game of Risk, an intense chalk battle (bags filled with chalk powder) in an open field, to shooting off fireworks, the members of Coopertheband clearly had the time of their lives filming the video.
The band has released three albums since the start of their journey; Venture (2010), Kings EP (2012), and Kingdoms (2017). Each release is a prime example of how the band has matured overtime. Coopertheband’s style and sound has been perfected with Kingdoms. It is only a matter of time before they are featured on stations such as Sirius XM Alt Nation!
